Today I'll be discussing "collective intelligence" in the form of the social news sites reddit and digg. Both of these sites are very similar in ways as well as different in how they are utilized (as mentioned in a previous blog post.)
I will mention how these sites function as well as how I have been personally using them to gain a knowledge about what is going on in current news.
DISCUSSION QUESTION:
While it's great to use these websites to gain knowledge about what is going on in the world, can you see any potential pitfalls of overusing these sites to learn about issues? Do you or someone you know actually use these sites (or any similar ones) to keep up with current events?
